Uncle Tom’s Cabin (Riley Farm)

Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a landmark representing the enslaved life of Reverend Josiah Henson, a 19th century slave turned abolitionist, preacher, conductor on the Underground Railroad, and educator. Henson’s autobiography inspired some of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s character, Uncle Tom, in her bestselling novel of 1852, Uncle Tom’s Cabin.  Henson was owned by Isaac Riley, but it was Henson who served as the plantation’s overseer. The house is the only structure on the property that was there when Henson was associated with it. more info
