Concept Plan Vision

Project Update

A public meeting was held on June 24, 2008 at the Bethesda - Chevy Chase Regional Services Center.  Park Planning Staff presented three concepts and received community input from a group of approximately 40 attendees. A meeting summary will be posted soon.

Staff will consider all input as they formulate a preferred concept plan to be reviewed by the Planning Board in the fall.

Please e-mail Brooke Farquhar at Brooke.Farquhar@MontgomeryParks.org or call 301-650-4388 if you have any questions.

Three Park Concept Plans

Existing facilities in Battery Lane Urban ParkThe concepts currently under consideration are based on community input from a previous public meeting and correspondence received by staff, as well as projected park needs for the existing park and surrounding area. These concepts are;

  • Concept 1 - A Contemplative Urban Oasis which includes a central lawn area and areas for strolling, seating and playing, and no active play courts.
  • Concept 2 - An Enhanced Park which retains the current character while creating additional open lawn space for informal recreation.
  • Concept 3 - A Sustainability Park that incorporates best practices of environmental design and features for environmental interpretation.

More details will be posted here as the process continues. Please keep checking back as meeting notes are added to our Calendar & Meeting Notes section of this website as well..
