Meadowside Nature Center, located in Rock Creek Regional Park in Rockville, Maryland, offers programs and exhibits which interpret natural and cultural history and demonstrate responsible management of our natural resources.
Programs
- Individuals/Families
All programs are by advance reservation unless stated otherwise in the ParkPASS.org. - Groups
Also offers weekday programs for school groups, scouts and other organized groups. These programs are described here under group programs or in the Leaders' Guide to Programs which is available at the nature center. Times may also be reserved for groups to self-guide through the Legacy of the Land, Legacy of the People and Curiosity Corner exhibit areas during weekdays.
Group program requests depend are accepted according to the following dates. If you want reservation for:- February - June 15: call us beginning 1st Tuesday in January
- June 16 - August: call us beginning 1st Tuesday in May
- September - January: call us 1st Tuesday before Montgomery County Public Schools start

Inside Meadowside
Legacy of the Land
This exhibit explores an unique opportunity to explore and experience
the story of our natural heritage. Walk
through geographical representations of Maryland's habitats, see a waterfall,
crawl through a cave, and watch the turtles and fish through portals.
Legacy of People
This
is a self-guiding, cultural history exhibit. It is designed to allow visitors
to experience "hands-on" activities of Maryland's early settlers
and native American tribes.Climb into a dugout canoe, lay in a rope bed
and experience life long ago.
Curiosity Corner
Curiosity Corner discovery room offers
a "hands-on" experience that is designed for all age levels.
Live animal interpretive exhibits, a wildlife observation area and hands-on
activities for all ages.
Outside Meadowside
Theme Gardens
Butterfly Garden, Heritage Herb Garden, Heritage Vegetable Garden, Hummingbird Garden.
Raptor Aviary
The raptor aviaries are located behind the nature center and contains different birds of prey, including all native owls of Montgomery County, hawks, Turkey Vulture and a Bald Eagle named Orion. A brochure on these birds is available.
Nature Trails
The nature center has more than seven miles of trail that explores habitats that include meadows, woods, ponds, streams, a lake and areas of historical interest. A trail guide is available at the nature center.
