Private tours
With two weeks advance notice, horticulturally-oriented, guided tours of Brookside Gardens are available to adult groups. Tours last one hour approximately, for we encourage questions from the participants. Guided by trained volunteer guides for adult groups.
Choose from two options:
- Gardens of Brookside
This varies according to the date and focuses on what is currently in bloom or of special interest. - Native Woody Plants
Available from March through October.
Fee: $75 (1 hour) for up to 20 participants, plus an additional $75 for each additional group over 20. For example, the fee for a group of 21-40 is $150, the fee for 41-60 is $225. For information and reservations call Diane Lewis, Adult Education Office at 301-962-1407.
Adult tours are also available at McCrillis Gardens and Gallery, a five-acre shade garden in Bethesda, Maryland, managed by Brookside Gardens. To schedule a tour, call the Adult Education office at (301) 962-1407.
Private horticultural programs
For your next group gathering, you may consider a business meeting in the Visitors Center Adult Classroom followed by a horticultural slide presentation furnished by our staff (weekdays only).

- Hardy Ferns
- Autumn Beauty
- On the Shady Side
- Conifers for Contrast
- Beauty of Bark
- The Garden in Winter
- Plant Curiosities: Fascinating Insectivores, Parasites, Aphrodisiacs & More (for the gardener who has seen it all)
A tour of the gardens may be substituted for the slide presentation. Please register at least two months in advance, as dates are limited.
Fee: $200 (four hours) for up to 45 participants

Brookside Gardens offers a variety of educational programs for adults including lectures, guided walks, bus trips, and workshops. A schedule of classes is published twice a year, once in the early spring and again in the fall. To be placed on the class schedule email list, reply to brooksidelearning@mncppc-mc.org.
