40th ANNIVERSARY PHOTO CONTEST
Brookside Gardens will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary on July 19, 2009. To highlight this milestone, and kick-off our year-long celebration, a 2009 Calendar will be published in September, 2008. It will include seasonal and historical photos taken at Brookside Gardens. A book of photographs is planned for release in September, 2009. Other 40th Anniversary merchandise may also be available. Brookside Gardens invites all interested photographers to submit photos for inclusion in the 40th Anniversary celebration publications and merchandise.
Due to popular demand, the deadline for submitting entries has been extended until 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008.
RULES AND INFORMATION
TO APPLY:
• Submit an Application Form along with a non-refundable check for $5 PER PHOTO
• (MAXIMUM of 5 photos per applicant), payable to “M-NCPPC”.
• If any photos are submitted by a minor (under 18 years of age), a parent or guardian must co-sign the application form.
• If any recognizable individuals are in a photo, include a release signed by the individuals stating that their image may be used for any Brookside Gardens publications or merchandise.
• Historical photos will be accepted if taken by the applicant or with the written consent of the original photographers, stating that their photos may be used for any Brookside Gardens publications or merchandise.
• A CD, containing jpg files of the photos, must be received by May 5, 2008. It can be mailed to Brookside Gardens (Attention ‘Photo Contest’) or brought to the Library.
RULES:
• Submission is open to all, including M-NCPPC staff and Brookside and McCrillis Gardens volunteers.
• All photos must have been taken at Brookside Gardens. Photos from all seasons, all parts of Brookside Gardens and all events are encouraged.
• Non-historical photos (for calendar publication) will be needed in color and in a 3:2 landscape format. Historical photos and photos for book publication can be in color or black and white and in a 3:2 (landscape) or 2:3 (portrait) format.
• Photos will be selected from a CD containing a jpg file of each photo. Cropping and minor adjustments are acceptable. Subsequent to judging, the photos which are selected will need to be provided on a CD as a high (300-600 dpi) resolution jpg file. Calendar photos may be as large as 9.5”x13”.
• Label each jpg file on the CD with your name, where the photo was taken, the approximate date it was taken and its subject or title.
• Brookside Gardens reserves the right to reject any photos at any time.
• Photos and CDs become the property of Brookside Gardens. Photos may be used at any time for any Brookside Gardens publication or merchandise.
• No photos or CDs will be returned. Submissions will not be acknowledged.
• Entries will be selected based on appeal, content and photographic skill. The decision of the judges will be final. The judges reserve the right to crop photos if needed.
• Winners (photographers) of photos selected for use will receive photographic credit in the publication or merchandise in which they are used. Winners will also receive a complimentary copy of the product in which they are used. There will be no other prizes, awards or other compensation.
• Winners will be notified by June 30, 2008.
