Accessible Playgrounds

Mill Creek Towne Local Park
17401 Shady Grove Road, Gaithersburg
Details: This playground was partially funded by the Gaithersburg Civitan Club. It was one of the first accessible playgrounds in the County.

Falls Road Local Park (Hadleys Playground)
12600 Falls Road, Potomac
Details: This playground was funded through a public/private partnership that included County, state, and private funds as well as donated services. The Commission provided the land and staff time to develop the park.

Martin Luther King Recreational Park
1100 Jackson Road, Silver Spring
Details: A new accessible playground opened October 24, 2003. The playground was funded by a grant from Boundless Playgrounds, a spinoff program from Hadley's Playground. Former Governor Glendenning provided grants to counties in Maryland to fund accessible playgrounds.

Regional Parks

Black Hill Regional Park

Details: Features include accessible parking by waterfront and accessible pontoon boat and picnic areas. The Visitors Center is fully accessible and includes a plexiglass viewing area on the deck outside the center for people seated in wheelchairs who cannot see the view of the lake over the railing.

Cabin John Regional Park -

Details: Accessible features include parking, and small area of playground with solid surfacing and rest rooms near top of hill.

Little Bennett

Details: Has campground which has accessible campsites. Shower and rest room were renovated to be more accessible.

Rock Creek (Needwood)

Details: Has new accessible picnic area #2. Includes accessible parking, paved paths to shelters and new accessible rest room. Accessible parking and telephone in parking lot adjacent to Visitors Center.

Wheaton Regional Park

Details: New park features include a small accessible part of Adventure playground located behind accessible rest rooms at top of hill. Paved paths to most of picnic shelters, accessible phones and some accessible picnic tables.
