Tuesday - Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Closed Sundays and Mondays
Trails open: sunrise to sunset
Winter hours: Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (November 1 - March 1)

Self-Guided Groups: Mid-June to August, a Fee of $1/child will be charged for groups of 10 and over. Reservations are required.

Meadowside will be closed to the public on:

  • Friday, July 4, 2008: Independence Day
  • Tuesday, November 11, 2008: Veteran's Day
  • Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28, 2008: Thanksgiving Holiday
  • Thursday, December 25, 2008: Christmas Day
  • Thursday, January 1: 2009

Our programs offer varied subject matter for children and adults. In addition, you can take part in naturalist-led hikes and self-guided exhibits, animal displays and interactive areas. Enjoy our nearly 8 miles of trails.

During inclement weather, Nature Facilities follow Montgomery County Public School closures, delayed openings and early releases. If school is closed for inclement conditions, all children's programs are cancelled. Cancellation of Adult programs is determined on a case-by-case basis. Please call the nature facility to check on adult program status.

Brownie Try-It: Watching Wildife

Nature notes from Meadowside!

American RobinSummer has come to the woods and meadows here. Bluebirds and other songbirds have built nests and rearing young. The beautiful song of the Wood Thrush and others echo through the woods. The coolness of the woodland canopy is welcome is those who come to enjoy our trails and sights of Rock Creek Regional Park in the summer.
