Recreation Buildings

Permit information and application forms

The Park Permits Office issues permits for 30 recreation buildings and for the multi-purpose room at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Montgomery County. These buildings may be rented for group meetings and social functions when at least two-thirds of the attendees are residents of Montgomery or Prince George's County. Most buildings are located near playgrounds and ballfields with limited parking. Tables, chairs, and kitchen facilities are available in many of the facilities. All facilities are fully or partially handicapped-accessible.

NOTE: Prior to selecting and reserving a Recreation center we recommend that you visit the recreation center in advance to look inside the facility. You may visit one of our offices between 8:30 AM-3 PM to gain entrance to your selected site. Please note that there is a $25  cash or charge key deposit required, as well as photo identification. Additionally, all keys must be returned to the sAMe location prior to 4:30 PM the day the key is borrowed. Additionally, observe the outdoor surroundings for other facilities you maybe interested in utilizing.

The Multi-Purpose Room at the Agricultural History Farm Park is subject to additional requirements/fees.

Hours

Buildings are rented in the following time blocks (4-hour minimum):

Reservations

Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance for weekend dates and up to 90 days in advance for weekday dates. To obtain a permit, submit the necessary application to the M-NCPPC permit office.

Reservations for Teenage or Children's Activities

Parents or guardians are required to apply for permits for youth/teenage or children's activities. One adult chaperone, 21 years of age or older, is required to be present for every 10 minors (youth under 18 years of age) in attendance. A permit chaperone list must be furnished to the Permit Office before the permit is issued. Permits and keys are issued to adults over 21 only.

Key/Security Deposit

A key is required for entry to all recreation buildings. Keys are issued to permitholders along with the facility permit, and may be picked up at the Park Permits Office ONE or TWO business days prior to the reserved date(s). Office(s) closed Saturday and Sunday. All keys and permits must be picked up in person at one of the permit offices.

A refundable cash key deposit and a refundable security deposit are required for all facilities. A key will be issued for the event and must be picked up and returned in person to the same office. The key deposit is forfeited if the key is not returned in person and/or in a timely manner. The damage deposit is forfeited if the center is not cleaned and/or if there are any violations of the rules and regulations. A $48 violation fee is charged if any violations occur.

Chartered youth groups and civic/homeowner associations may use the recreation buildings for two-hour meetings, Monday through Thursday evenings, for a non-refundable administrative application fee of $48. However, the $25 refundable cash key deposit and the $150 refundable damage deposit are required for all users.
Approximately one-third of the recreation buildings have air-conditioning.

NOTE: There is no additional charge for air-conditioning. Since buildings are unstaffed facilities, air-conditioning cannot be guaranteed.)

Cancellation / Change Policies

The rental fee is eligible for a partial refund only if the reservation is canceled at least 30 days prior to the reservation date. (Cancellations must be received in writing). If it is canceled less than 30 days in advance, the fee is non-refundable. A $48 fee will be assessed for reservation changes (date changes must be made at least one week in advance and submitted in writing). A $48 fee will be assessed for cancellations.

Reservations for Seasonal Use of Recreation Buildings

Requests for seasonal use of park recreation buildings may be submitted by qualifying resident youth groups, civic or homeowner associations, or other groups and organizations, using the above reservation procedures. Seasonal applications are accepted from incumbent permitholders as of June 15, and on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning July 1, for the following season, which extends from September 1 to June 30. Priority will be given to incumbent permitholder requests received prior to August 1. A non-refundable administrative fee of $48 is required for qualifying youth group, civic, or homeowners' association applicants (limited to two-hours per use). Other seasonal applicants pay the regular hourly reservation fee. A reservation fee is required for meetings scheduled in July and August. Seasonal reservations are made for weekdays, excluding Friday evenings and holidays, on a once-a-week or a once-a-month basis, and must be for the same day of the week each time. Seasonal reservations cannot be made on legal holidays. Any fees due are payable in advance of the first seasonal use, and a refundable $25 key deposit and $150 damage security deposit are required. Seasonal applications and permits are valid for one season only. Permitholders must reapply each year beginning June 15.

Commission regulations
  • No beer or alcoholic beverages of any kind are allowed.
  • Two-thirds of the attendees must be residents of Montgomery or Prince George's County.
  • The permittee is not allowed to accept admission fees or to sell anything on Park property.
  • Amplified music must meet Montgomery County decibel standards.
  • No amplified music is allowed after 10 PM.
  • No live bands are allowed.
  • No generators are permitted.
  • Only game/recreational equipment authorized by M-NCPPC is permitted.
  • One adult chaperone is required for every ten minors.
  • All trash must be taken completely out of the park by the group or organization
