Description: The Canada Dry bottling plant closed in 1999. In December 2001 the Planning Board put the eastern portion of the site on the Locational Atlas to prevent its demolition. This portion of the building has been incorporated into redevelopment plans for the site. The JBG Companies is constructing 220 multifamily dwelling units on the Canada Dry site including 28 Moderately Priced Dwelling Units.

The JBG Companies and Montgomery County Government have also developed the Silver Spring Innovation Center (open as of September 3, 2004) on the properties adjoining Canada Dry on the east. The portion of Blair Mill Road between East-West Highway and Georgia Avenue will be abandoned as part of the Silver Spring Gateway project, also to be constructed by JBG.
